The company was formed late in 1998 and incorporated under the name mindSHIFT, Inc in May of 1999. It was the birth of the dream to create an environment that places individuals first - providing fertile ground for both personal and professional growth. With a mission "To have FUN," the company was on its way.
In November of 2000, the vision to become the leading eLearning company in Atlanta became clear and the corporate name was officially changed - echo11media, inc. was born.
The initial focus of the company was eLearning consulting and development primarily in support of other interactive media companies in Atlanta. We quickly gained a reputation as the "go-to-guys." When it hits the fan - if you want it fixed and you want it fixed right, call echo11media.
Late in 2000, Steve rekindled his instructor spirit and began teaching Authorware for three of Atlanta's Authorized Macromedia Training Partners. During this time, it became evident that a business model that successfully combined custom eLearning consulting and development with a Macromedia Training Partnership could provide the most comprehensive eLearning services.
In May of 2001, echo11media began negotiations for the acquisition of Media Magic, a Macromedia Authorized Training Partner of 9 years. Media Magic had a similar business model, but was unsuccessful at combining the two businesses. The purchase of Media Magic was complete late in August of 2001 and echo11media became one of three Macromedia Authorized Training Partners in Atlanta.
On September 9th, 2001 echo11media moved to its current home in the Glenridge 400 business complex. As you can imagine, September 11th had a huge impact on us as it did on everyone. We had just purchased a business that requires people to travel. Who's going to travel now? Needless to say, we were concerned. But, we had a vision!
On September 15th, 2001 echo11media was linked to Macromedia's website and our training center was officially launched. We held our first classes at our facility in October, training 13 students. We also conducted our first on-site class at the Coca Cola Company training an additional 8 students. We were off and training!
With the launch of the training center, we revisited our mission and charted a clear course toward our vision - explore eLearning innovation, create high-impact learning solutions and sharing our experiences. We wanted to "do it different." We didn't want to be a typical training center - we genuinely wanted to help people be successful. From that, we created our core commitments to our students - we NEVER cancel classes, maximum EIGHT students per class, SUPPORT beyond the classroom, and SATISFACTION guaranteed.
In Jan 2002, Holly Quarzo joined the team as Chief Creative Officer and quickly became the Queen of Macromedia Training - ranked #2 world-wide, March 2002 and #1 world-wide for the year 2005.
In February 2003, Scott Talsma joined the echo11media team as Chief Technical Officer.
In February 2005, we moved our office to accomodate for the tremendous growth we're undergoing. In May 2005, we had a "rebirth" party to celebrate our new office, new logo and new name. We had many clients, family and friends in attendance in support of our new endeavours.

Many have asked, here is the answer...
I started the company under a different name with a very different vision. Because of my experience with my previous company, I developed a subconscious equation which stated, "Successful business equals screwed up personal life." After much personal growth and a visit from a butterfly, I decided it was time once again to create a successful business, but this time maintain a balanced life. At this point in my life, the number 11 began showing up all over the place which made me real curious. I knew I was born on November 11th, but I didn't know that I was born at 11:38 AM of the 11th day of the 11th month weighing 8lb 3oz. And that was enough to change the name!
